How do we measure climatic load?

We employ the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, an internationally recognised standard for the calculation of climatic load.

The GHG standard divides emissions (climatic load) into three areas (scopes):
  1. Includes emissions from the activities that we own (production facilities and trucks).
  2. Emission from the energy we purchase (electricity og district heating)
  3. All other emissions from the value chain (milk produced on the farm, packaging, external distributors, waste processing)

As the diagram shows, only 4% of the total emissions come from our own activities (scope 1). 3% are from purchase of electricity and heat, (scope 2), and the remaining 93% are from purchase of raw material, milk, packaging material and, waste disposal (scope 3).
